Meet our Team

Anthony Valentine LL.B.

Tony graduated from Sydney University Law School in his early twenties, and has practised law since that time, both in small and large firms, then exclusively as a barrister for twelve years at the Sydney Bar in the 80's and 90's. He conducted practice at Tony Valentine & Co. Lawyers since 1998 in Newtown. That firm merged with Smith Reid Attorneys at Law in 2007 and the new firm was named Smith Reid Attorneys.

Tony has extensive experience in a wide area of law including  commercial law, litigation (amongst other matters  commercial, equity & deceased estate litigation), wills & probate and criminal law.

His experience as a barrister makes him an effective Court advocate.

Specifically, Tony is very experienced at advising and appearing to "s. 32 applications" (applicaitons pursuant to the Mental Health (Forensic Provisions) Act ) and  other significant and serious criminal applications, guilty pleas and hearing matters.

 

Georgia Koutts B.Sc., M.L.L.P

Georgia graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney with a Masters of Law and Legal Practice in 2006 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales in early 2007.  Prior to joining Smith Reid, Georgia was a Senior Associate Solicitor  in a mid-tier firm litigating large commercial disputes. Georgia assists Tony Valentine with litigated Family Law, commercial  and deceased estate disputes. Georgia has studied mediatin and intends to apply for an accreditation as a mediatior later this year.

Georgia is a keen traveller and is currently renovating her first home. She enjoys outdoor activities including cycling, rowing and bushwalking. In August 2011 she took part in the 100 kilometre "trailwalker" event to raise money for Oxfam.

 

 

Sally Egan B.A., LL.B

Sally has a Bachelors degree in Arts, majoring in Sociology and Gender Studies from Sydney University and a Law degree from the University of Notre Dame, Sydney. Sally became interested in Law as a result of her father's involvement in law as a noted barrister of the New South Wales Bar. After her graduation from Arts, and before commencing to study Law, Sally lived in Scotland for over a year and also travelled throughout Europe.

Sally assists Tony Valentine with the personal legal services aspects of the firm, including wills, powers of attorney,  guardianship appointments and associated matters. In addition, she assists in Family and De Facto Relationships law as well as associated property adjustments and disputes. Her common sense approach and empathy with clients helps ease the stressful nature of their experience. Sally enjoys home life and hobbies such as cooking and entertaining friends and family.  

 

Tyron Wong B.Com., LL.B

Tyron, who was born in China and came to Australia at the age of four, is conversant in Cantonese. His commerce degree included a major in accounting, he is a solicitor and he also assists us in accounting and administration.

His interests include business and property law. Tyron enjoys mah-jong, soccer and local and Chinese community events in his spare time.

 

Wendy Playford

Wendy first worked with Tony Valentine in about the year 2000, filling a temporary role, pending the arrival of a new permanent administrative staff member. The two got on well and kept in contact from time to time over the years.

After many years Wendy was looking to work once more in the legal services area and became a part time member of the team in  early 2010. Wendy is now working full time with with the firm in an administrative and reception capacity and her's is the voice most likely to "meet and greet" you should you contact Smith Reid Attorneys.

Wendy is a valued member of staff, is a friendly and approachable soul and is eager to help.
