Retail Leases are leases which involve premises leased for the purposes of carrying on certain types of business or which form part of retail shopping Centres.
Retail Leases are governed by the terms of the Retail Leases Act, which provides particular rules in relation to them, for example in relation to the costs of preparation, the terms which are permissible, the holding of monetary security for performance, and the resolution of disputes. The Retail Leases Act 1996 (NSW) (where applicable) modifies some of the law applicable to leasing. Many other areas of leasing law not modified remain applicable.
